Teaching Tips & Strategies

Our partner schools seek highly engaging, supportive teachers. Incorporate these strategies to maximize student retention.

Use Total Physical Response (TPR), colorful visual props, high energy, and frequent visual rewards (trophies, stickers) to sustain short attention spans.

Beyond Textbook
Beyond the Textbook

Do not simply read the slides. Ask extension questions, adapt slide content to the student's personal interests, and correct pronunciation gently.

Communication
Best Communication

Speak slowly and clearly. Adjust vocabulary complexity to match student comprehension level. Limit usage of complex idiomatic expressions.

Loyalty
Building Loyalty

Connect with student families. Encourage parents by leaving constructive feedback on performance, prompting them to rebook your upcoming slots.

Policies & Conduct Standards

Professional consistency is highly critical for ESL tutor booking rates. Adhere strictly to these attendance policies.

Attendance Attendance & Punctuality

Tutors must log in to the virtual classroom **at least 5 minutes prior** to the scheduled lesson start time. This buffer allows for fixing device glitches.

Conduct Conduct & Presentation

  • πŸ‘š Dress Code: Wear professional smart-casual attire. Avoid clothing with large branding.
  • 🏠 Backdrop: Ensure a tidy, bright teaching space. Keep family members out of frame.
  • πŸ“± Distractions: Mobile phone usage or external chatting during active slots is strictly prohibited.
